Sakinah, my good friend, sent me her son’s photo, Haziq. The photo was taken by Haziq’s father who is talented in taking professional photographs. Baby Haziq is almost 3 months old now. Just look at the photo…cute and chubby kan?Sakinah told me that her son loves to be breastfeed…Alhamdulillah…
Talking about breastfeeding, I still remember when my son, Muhd Rizq Ariff started to breastfeed 3 years ago. While I was pregnant, I was very determined to give my son my breast milk. At that time, all my close friends are still single. I guess I was one of the first in my group to get married
However, I am truly lucky to have a friend in my previous company, Raja Zaidatul who got married a few months before me and has a new born son who was breastfeeding at that time. Zai was the person I seek for advice. She is very particular in choosing the best for her son. She even surfed the net to help compare and to choose the best breast pump, best breast pads, best stroller, best BP bag and lots more. I learn a lot from her…she was my soul guidance to prepare me before my delivery.
After delivery, Muhd Rizq Ariff a healthy 4kg boy, started to drink my milk the next day. However, I managed to pump my milk within the first 24 hrs with the help of my Medela Electric BP (first BP). Bersyukur sangat kpd Allah SWT as I managed to give my son my early breast milk, which Dr says is very good for the new born baby.
We went back home after 4 days in the maternity ward. Soon after that, I realized my son’s skin was a bit yellowish. Rizq was confirmed to have Jaundice. He was admitted back to the hospital. At that time the Dr advised me to stay at home while they milk my baby with powdered milk. I said ‘NO’…I pumped my milk every hr (or when I feel my breasts are full with milk) and put them in small bottles in a chilled refrigerator. Every time my hubby went to see my son, I will pack the chilled bottles and asked my hubby to feed my baby. The whole 3 days was very tiring but it was worth it as I was able to feed my baby. Alhamdulillah I managed to breastfeed Rizq Ariff exclusively (x campur susu tepung) until his age was almost 2 years old.
And so to conclude, Breast milk is one of Allah’s greatest creation for all babies in the world. The breast milk has lotsa vitamins, antibiotics, minerals and etc which help alot in the growing process of your child . Best of all, your love ones will be more attached to you and InsyaAllah the mother-child bond will be ever lasting.
